Vista freeze and lock


















I don't think I have enough technical knowledge to complete such a risky procedure. I would suggest that you run startup repair on the computer using the Vista DVD and check if it works. If you have a Windows Vista installation disc, you need to restart boot your computer using the installation disc.

I genuienly wish I could use your advice to reboot the the computer using an installation disc or execute a startup repair. The windows logo does not even appear, needless to say you cannot access to the welcome screen, where it asks for password, or the desktop. Is my computer seriously damaged? While this did help a little, my computer was still running hotter and was freezing, but not as frequent. Through many trial and errors, I could not resolve this issue. Finally while checking Windows updates, I noticed that there was an optional nVidia video driver update one early on that I had installed many months ago and forgot about.

It randomly freezes either black screen and cursor or swirly waiting icon. Nothing will stop it.. Ive done hard disk tests and reseated the memory but there seams nothing wrong with the hardware. My symptoms begin with Explorer window not responding. The other Windows continue to respond for a while before everything freezes over. I have tried rebooting the server from command line shutdown -f -t 0 -r. If I do that the machine just gets stuck at "Shutting Down" until I hard reboot. The problem is particularly annoying since I have a Intel RAID-5 controller which start "Verifying and Rebuilding" the RAID group if I hard reboot only Intel knows why they need to do that since the write cache on the drives are off and the performance sucks until the rebuild is complete.

I have uninstalled antivirus, firewall, spyware protection Norton assuming this maybe the cause of the problem. That did not help. ON the last HP, a tech suggested dont add any of my programs and see how it runs then add programs gradually,no luck with just there software still had same issues. Also had same issues when HD was reformatted to factory condition. I've done adware scans,virus scans,RAM checks,software tweaks, you name it, nothing comes up or helps.

Only thing left I can think of is id mt Wireless Vonage Linksys router is having issues with Vista somehow. If IE lets you down why not try Firefox? Try FF and post result. A new wrinkle to this whole fiasco, of course there is no Installation cd with the brand new PC and no partition on the HD with the install info but here's the kicker I can't even do a simple system restore.

It keeps freezing up on m when I try it. NO, no one seems to have a clue what it is.
