Black gold tuner software

After waiting for BlackGold to reply to my e-mails I eventually contacted them via their web-site after sending a follow up e-mail - they claimed never to have got my original e-mails.

They sorted our an RMA and my card was returned after about a week. After a re-install thinking this was a Media Centre issue all was well until a few days later, now I'm getting no signal on the tuner and Play Ready issues. I think the tuner is switching to DVB-C mode and Media Centre realises it needs to do the whole encrypted cable set-up thing which is impossible with an aerial!

I know this isn't software as a reboot doesn't solve the issue but switching off and pulling the power for a few seconds does i. Has anyone else seen these issues? I am fast running out of patience with BlackGold due to never know if they've got e-mails and the fact this would be the 2nd time I'll have to send the card back to them.

Two working reliable tuners are better than 4 that becomes 3 and requires messing with Media Centre to get it to work again Also apologies for the rant! Standard Member. I've just been reading through this thread and it's comforting to know I'm not the only one having issues with this card. I purchased mine through QuietPC one of the best companies I've dealt with back in Nov 11 to install in my upgraded system.

Installations of the card seemed to go without a hitch. Re-tuning and re-installing drivers had no effect. Like others I tried getting support that's a laugh! Again response was non-existent. A follow up e-mail after a couple of weeks to the contact at BG provided by Quiet PC got a response and my card was then sent back to BG for checking.

I got it back 2 days later, so excellent turnaround, but no indication if any issues were found, or not, and I'm certain it was the same card that I got back.

Maybe it was received and simply returned!! Re-installed the card and have exactly the same issue. Sent another e-mail to BG 20 Feb and still awaiting response. When setting up MCE win7 64bit it detects all 4 tuners but declares only 3 can be tuned in. If the 4th is selected manually no tuners are tuned in. Re-installing drivers has no effect. I have no utilities to measure signal strength to each tuner and as far as I know there is nothing in MCE that allows this, perhaps I'm wrong?

Maybe this is the reason for only 3 tuners Apart from the loss of 1 tuner I have to say I'm very happy with this card. And I've had none of the other problems raised in this thread, but I would like to get the 4th tuner up and running - after all I did pay a good price for it! Hi Mr Bean, I've found that when my card does that the only way to get it back is to turn off the PC - a proper shutdown and not into standby. I also turn off the power for at least 5 seconds - I don't know if this is important or not.

When I do this I find the 4th tuner or 1st as I call it as it's the first in the list works for a few days then it fails again. I'm using DVBLink's TVSource which allows me to tune a frequency and get the signal strength and quality from the hardware but there is nate. However, it's command line only. I don't hold out much hope getting a reply from them myself then.

I did find out that if you mail direct it doesn't always get through so I used the "contact us" on the web-site. Maybe you should request information there? Hi PhilS76 It sounds like your issue differs to mine! I sold a on to a friend who likes it much, I wish I had kept it for the build I have just completed for family and other house. I still own one and it works without complaint. If i give up and obtain refund and buy a I lose the point of the original request, to record at least two channels and watch another.

I hope BGT are on top of this and a solution to their hardware fail is close. This is first tuner, what a great experience!

Got it today and after alot of slot swapping got it to find the channels. My thoughts are it is down to heat, as soon as I make it work, by recording and watching a few channels it gives up and it wont come back until the pc has been turned off for a while whilst it cools down?

I don't know what to do with it now, wait for a response from blackgold with firmware or return it! Just an update, I've got a 90mm system fan directly on the card and it seems to be working. I'm recording and watching what i could'nt do before! Fingers crossed. Last edited: Jan 20, Nojoketh Standard Member.

Hi just found this post after purchasing a BGT from scan which has failed it is in process of an RMA at the moment - after reading this not sure if I should get a refund or try a new card!

If you would like us to address the issue, then we would need you to return the card to us. If however, you require a refund, you will need to request a return authorisation from to Scan. If you wish to return your product, please mark the package with RMAXXXX and return your product and all components using the details below. We will advise you on the status of your product once it has been processed and checked by our returns staff.

Please allow 5 working days after the receipt of your product. Please note, this returns authorisation is valid for 14 days from date of issue only. Please email [email protected] once you have dispatched your return to us. Please be advised that if components are missing from your return, this may delay processing of your RMA. Any thoughts on what to do here - replace or refund? Regards, Neill. You have all the information you need to make a decision in bg's response so I guess your question ought to be: do we trust BG to fix the problem?

Answer: we don't know. We do know they believe they have a fix. Why not let them try: it will only cost you postage and time. Drop an email to Scan to keep them in the loop. BG have had teething troubles before but they usually iron them out. I've had 4 BG cards, 1 went back for refund but I still recommend them. BGT even supplies the screwdriver. There may not be a loopthrough aerial output, but a multi-pin socket accepts a variety of different SD analogue video inputs via a proprietary cable that's terminated with a series of connectors.

With the right software, these will allow you to view or record composite, S-video and component sources. The BGT is beautifully made. We are proud to present MediaPortal 2.
