This position is a full-time administrative and teaching position which is responsible, in collaboration with the Medical Director, for all decisions related to the local daily operational and educational aspects of the Austin, Texas MSA program including didactic curriculum content, student clinical experiences and placements, quality assurance, local program budget, marketing, political liaison with universities and state medical boards, student admissions and matriculation, student advancement, and faculty development.

This person also assumes responsibility that program activities to comply with accreditation requirements and with all university, school, and program policies and procedures. The Program Director is expected to devote two administrative days to the program, and to spend at least one additional day in a clinical setting working with CWRU MSA students.

The Program Director will have indirect supervisory responsibility for the local Education Coordinator and Education Specialist, who directly report to the local Manager of Administrative Operations. Experience: Ten years of clinical experience as a certified anesthesiologist assistant CAA required. The position requires that the Program Director can work under stress and to sit for long periods of time at a computer terminal.

Frequent travel may be required for student and AA faculty recruitment and participation in professional meetings at the state and national levels. We strongly encourage applications from members of underrepresented groups.

In February, , the School received a letter from Dr. Warrick stating that graduates who are certified will be admitted to the college as senior students, recognizing the program in nurse anesthesia and giving nurse anesthetists credit for one full academic year of work while students in anesthesia school.

In February, , the student organization undertook a major project of conducting an educational seminar for students and graduates throughout the area. This was a successful endeavor and has become an annual event with over students, graduates, and exhibitors attending each year. In August, the school relocated to St. Louis Park, Minnesota after having been situated in Minneapolis since its inception.

Offices and classrooms are presently located in the Lenox Community Center Building. The main campus is located in Winona, Minnesota, but the graduate program in nurse anesthesia is conducted at the Twin Cities Campus. Course work offered at the Minneapolis School of Anesthesia is awarded graduate credit by the University. The curriculum for the nurse anesthesia program is based upon the requirements of the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs.

Clinical experience is provided at the member hospitals, where over , surgical procedures are performed annually in all specialty areas. Students are supervised and instructed by anesthesiologists and certified registered nurse anesthetists. Each hospital has appointed a clinical coordinator to help manage student clinical experiences.
